Marton Lee was established in the early 1980′s and has since acquired a reputation for making quality, customized furniture and cabinetry for all rooms in the home.

From its earliest days the company also focused on designing and manufacturing ranges of entertainment / media furniture with an emphasis on build quality (solid wood or veneer only) and design innovation.

The company’s manufacturing operation and showroom are based in Glenfield on the North Shore. Clients are welcome to view their furniture and cabinetry as they go through the various stages of manufacture. They can also talk directly with the qualified cabinet makers who build all Marton Lee’s furniture and see the finishing shop where all the company’s pieces are painted and polished.

Marton Lee is passionate about all aspects of furniture and cabinetry making: from the initial design right through to the finishing details; including the installation.

Priority is given to understanding the clients’ needs. First and foremost this means listening carefully, which, coupled with our broad knowledge and technical skills, ensures successful outcomes. The company has a record of delighting its clients which is why so many of them come back again and again.

Through its experience of being a maker of both ‘custom made’ and ‘standard, designer ranges’, Marton Lee has developed a manufacturing / marketing principle which is expressed in the term ‘Your choice’. The idea behind ‘Your choice’ is simple – to give people huge scope to ‘customize’ the company’s standard, designer ranges; while, not having to pay bespoke prices or accept long lead times.

Thus, in the case of the company’s first range of entertainment furniture based on this principle, customers have the opportunity to choose:

• Furniture – low unit, wall unit and shelving – all pieces are complimentary and can be used singly or together; providing a huge range of storage and style options
• Size – the unit’s length (in multiples of 100mm)
• Configuration – the combination of drawers / doors / flaps / shelves
• Material – natural timber veneer, reconstituted timber veneer or medium density fibreboard
• Finish – various timber stain colours, any colour from the current Resene range and different finishes (gloss, satin or matt)
• Handles – recessed, touch to open or other

Designing and developing product is neither an easy nor a quick process. From the initial ‘idea’, through the process of refinement, and then the various stages of prototyping to the point where there is a fully resolved piece of furniture, is a time consuming and costly exercise. We believe that it is entirely reasonable that this should be respected and, if it is not, we will defend our rights vigorously. We seek copyright protection on all our designs and will pursue legal redress where our legitimate rights are infringed.

Master cabinet maker

Marton Lee are one of the first furniture / cabinet makers in New Zealand to be deemed eligible for FITEC’s (Forest Industry Training Council) Furniture Master Seal – Cabinet Maker. The funiture Master Seal provides assurance to the public that the furniture and cabinetry purchased from a Master Seal Holder is NZ made and that it is made by tradesmen with relevant, formal industry qualifications. Master Seal is all about quality through training – companies that have well trained staff produce well made, good quality furniture and cabinetry. This is at the heart of Marton Lee’s commitment to quality and is tangible evidence of this.
